Les Miserables

Picture
Les Miserables is based on Victor Hugo's legendary novel focusing on Jean Valjean, the French peasant who steals a loaf of bread and spends almost two decades in prison. He is tracked down obsessively by police inspector Javert after he breaks his parole. The Tony winner has one iconic anthem after another in the Claude-Michel Schonberg score with lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel.

While set during backdrop of revolutionary France, the musical reaches beyond the narrative of its story into the hearts of theatre-goers with titles such as "I Dreamed A Dream", "Castle On A Cloud", and "On My Own". The Media Theatre was the only Philadelphia regional professional theatre producing the original version of the show while the revised revival played on Broadway.

Directed by Jesse Cline, the Artistic Director for Media Music Theatre Company, the show has a cast with names familiar to The Media Theatre as well as those debuting on its stage. Lexi appeared as Young Cosette in this 2014 production at The Media Music Theatre.

REVIEWS

"The Media Theatre delivers a professional and bold production of LesMiserables this holiday season under the direction of Jesse Cline.  ... In the roles of the ... young characters in the the show ... Lexi Gwynn as Young Cosette ... does a fantastic job and projects poise during (her) scenes."  View Article

THEATRE SENSATION
"The people are singing gloriously, movingly, and beautifully at the Media Theatre where artistic director Jesse Cline’s production of the contemporary favorite, “Les Misérables” is intensely intimate and always compelling. Some moments take precedence over others, but for the most part, Cline’s “Les Miz” takes the Media to a new level. Everything about the production was clean, poignant, and to the point. The Media stage never looked better than Troy Martin O’Shia’s lighting for this show. Christopher Ertelt’s orchestra added to the production’s success, being as clear in tone and as deep in presentation as Cline’s outstanding cast ... and let's not omit the children ... Lexi Gwynn, soon to be seen as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, is a sweet Young Cosette."  (View Article)
